Empire 43 - heating element melted

Got an Empire 43 today - the heating element is melted.
Has someone from the forum members already repaired it with new
Nichrom wire? Or is there an other solution?

Ouch .... but things like this are to be expected from time to time.

I'm sure you will manage an effective repair and get her up and running in good order soon!

They are fairly easy to duplicate, especially since you have the original to copy and it looks as though your mica is in good shape. Just get the proper nichrome ribbon so you have the right wattage and just duplicate what you have there. Nichrome ribbon can be purchased in many different sizes on eBay.

@tenniV11 I think the Empire heaters, especially the horizontal engines, are easily repaired.  The post that @Nick pointed you to will get you going for sure!

From an answer to a question in the No 9 issue of TEC.  Wire is .034" wide, .005" thick.  It measures about 4.6 ohm/ft. A cold resistance (where 35 turns are used on a 1-7/16 x 3-1/4 mica sheet) is 34 ohms.
