Guess I don't have an answer as I've been burning up all my old and water damaged esbit first and saving the new stuff. I know most avoid burning it and even throw it out, but my first engine was a little Jensen 76 and burning esbit brings back great memories! (outside of course

)
If any esbit haters need to dispose of theirs, let me know

The old one I tried, may have been wet and maybe that's why it burned with ferocity and sparks
The wet stuff is fun to watch explode with it's little smoke trails, but a little messy.
