Thanks for the link Frank. I wish I would have made it out to NAMES sooner to meet Bill. I am lucky to have seen his work in person that Gil had on display. It is among the best I have ever seen!

Wonderful bio that might better have been placed at the head of Gil's great photo thread ... thanks for posting this Frank!

I will take exception to Mr. Huxhold's statement that all it takes is to "like" something to be able to do good at it. I have worked within engineering related fields most of my life, and worked closely with many very capable Master Machinists, and I can say unequivocally that just "liking" something is not nearly enough. There are other key factors such as talent, skill, patience, forethought, comprehension, and simple raw ability. Not everyone who may "like" something is possessed of those other requisite factors... but fortunately for the rest of us duffers, there are those who are overly endowed with each of those wonderful virtues, and our world is a far better place because of them!!!

Thanks, Frank. I would have included this toward the end of my thread.
However this separate thread will likely play out as a better idea and I can post a link to it in my thread.

I remember meeting him, the same day I met Bruce, Angie, and Gil in person. That was in 2012 at the
Model Engineering Expo in Wyandotte MI. Willhelm had Gil behind the table and was playing with his
lathe, they were making brass oilers and goblets. I spent the most time looking at his engines, what
detail and intricate parts. Simply amazing.

Tom, I am glad you stopped by to meet Bill and us that day.
I have fond memories of my lesson with Bill on his jewelers lathe that he made into a 6 station turret lathe with all the right tool stops to create one of these miniature brass goblets in under 30 seconds.

Here I am getting a lesson....

Hey Gil, I see in the pics you and Willhelm, waring you badges from the show.
Do you still have yours? How big of a collection would you have if you saved
them from all the shows you went to?

Tommy, I didn't save them as a collection. That said most are all still here but scattered about. Some are in a drawer and some are in boxes of things brought home from one show or another.

That was my first and only time. It would be nice to meet you too Nick, unless you want to punch me in the nose.
Do they have in Wyandotte at the Yack Arena every year?

How many people noticed what was in the glass case Willhelm was leaning on?
