Nice old engine - home made by a skilled mechanic - I have a very
similar one with strange threads too - i got it from Austria.
I guess that in the 19th century it was common to make steam models
in your spare time - people didn't had the money to buy expensive
toy engines or sets of castings.
Hard to find informations about the builder.
