I feel some people are missing the point here. The seller is a scammer, why should a scammer be allowed to cheat and win when there are legal and rightful avenues for Chris to follow via eBay PayPal to get a full refund?

Regardless if Chris made a mistake buying this, its still a scam and a fake and represented as the the real thing and that's why we purchase on eBay and pay via PayPal for this peace of mind assurance that if things go pear shaped (even if in hindsight we shouldn't have clicked buy) that things will be rectified and scammers don't win ill gotten $$$

Seriously, can't see too many people finding out that they have been cheated out of this much money by a scammer and not trying rectify it and just bending over and saying "thank you". The scammer will have lost a sale, but he will still have his 'D32'.

I must just be an angry Aussie convict penal colony type, because if I didn't get satisfaction from either eBay or Paypal, once the engine had arrived and I had the sellers address I'd be spending $6000 on airfare to hand deliver it back to him.

He slept on it and accepted my generous partial refund proposal. He keeps the engine, gives me back most of cash. And I don’t have to deal with shipping it back.

One thing though... The refund is stuck as pending in PayPal? How does it become finalized? I've never seen pending before.

He accepted the refund through email but he still has to click “accept” on his end with PayPal to get rid of the pending status

I contacted PayPal, it is pending only to go to my bank. Deal is resolved. We parted ways.

Chris - been traveling for work this week but saw your plight.  Glad you were able to shut this transaction down. Lesson learned. Don't kick yourself too badly... done something similar awhile back.

Lessons -

1. Sellers who are offer deceitful descriptions and faked items shouldn't be allowed to trap and fraud unwary buyers.

2. If a buyer is caught out by deceitful descriptions and a fraudulent seller. Contact eBay and Paypal to have the situation remedied in your favour.

So how many more times will Ebay allow him to keep a part of the refund in this scam he is running?

One would think in this day and age he would be red flagged once Ebay found out what he is doing.
