Low-temp Stirling
« on: April 14, 2020, 01:10:23 am »
Here is another Amazon purchased Stirling. This engine differs from most in that it doesn't has the usual separate
crank and rod for the displacer. Instead, it uses a pair of small magnets. One on the displacer and one on the bottom
of the power piston. The engine runs well and it has run continuously for over an hour. Please note that the camera on my Kindle fire Hd tablet seems to exaggerate sounds. The engine in operation is much quieter than on the video.
This engine runs the best of all my low temp stirling engines.

Hi Paul, I am interested in this magnet activated displacer system.
I slowed down the video play back and still could not see any movement in the displacer area.

Could you please film it again with a clear view of the displacer, It might require good lighting and a slow motion recording mode.
YouTube does allow me to slow it to 1/4 of normal speed.

Thank you in advance,

Gil

Here's a regular speed video of the displacer in action. The slow motion on my camera is not good so I used my
Kindle fire tablet. Nothing much to see. It goes up and down like the displacers on most low-temp Stirlings. There
Is a magnet on the end of the power piston and a corresponding magnet on the displacer. When the two get near
each other due to crank position, the displacer lifts. When the two are farther apart the displacer drops. Here's a video.

Thanks, Paul. That is a very creative variation that I have not seen before.
