So when you fill it from the safety valve port leave the wingnut cap off.  When water starts to flow out back wingnut hole its full and you can now replace safety valve and wingnut.  A lot of engines have similar if no sight glass. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
Love steam engines, especially older German made.  Love the more clockwork style.  Addicted to this stuff!
