I have a lot of hours in this P71 pump from Jin, enjoyed every minute of making all the metal parts and woodworking.
Only thing I haven't done yet is bend and cut the return that will flow the water into the 4" copper water trough as I'm still pondering a few ideas.
I did toy with the idea of making a 'shower rose' but think because it won't be pressurized it would still just dribble out in one stream.
Anyone got any clever ideas before I cut and bend that brass pipe?

Dang, that's a handsome setup Jim. being a pump, it might have enough pressure to have a showerhead like pressure, only one way to find out, I guess. I have 2 of these units & have yet to do anything with them. I look forward to seeing it in action.

Jim, beautiful setting indeed. I have also bought one thinking I could use it as boiler feed pump but Jin advised me it would not be able to manage a 20 - 40 PSI pressure so it is currently sleeping on a shelf

That is disappointing to hear Raphael, as that is exactly the application that I was hoping to use my P71 for!
I wonder if they could be rebuilt with better seals, to achieve a 40+ psi standard?

Evilbay is where you find Jin, unless you want to go to China and look him up directly. He actually has a few different outlets, or "monikers" under which he sells his products.

Bruce, you might try making the largest reasonable diameter drive belt pulley and replace the one that is there with at least 2X diameter of the original. This would give your belt drive a lot more leverage.

I have one of these and had every intention of using it on a boiler, got the same msg from Jin about pressure. I spent about 30 minutes with it and from my experience with pumps on live steam locomotives and 1/4 scale traction engines I think (ie my opinion) the issue is with the check valves not seating well at all. Basically that little pump should be able to pump at pressures to 40 lb. I was going to replace all the balls and seats. I had not tested the cylinder and piston but they looked tight. Mine is on a shelf for now as several other projects are underway and will be finished before I futz around with the pump. I need a real project for it.

Did a bit more today, that was a real bear silver brazing that all together. Need to bend and install the water pipe and bring it over to the first cup.
Had some quick test runs and it all worked as expected (thankfully!) shame its all going to end up tarnishing.....but patina is ok
