I, too, live in a small place (1800 people at the height of the tourist season). About three years ago, I stopped at a yard sale about 1/2 mile from home. A little girl there had a lemonade stand and, as is pretty well always the case, was selling nothing. Not wanting to disappoint her, and remembering my own "lemonade days," I gave her $2.00 for a $.25-cent glass of lemonade (I always do this when I see a kid lemonade stand). Her mother was so pleased that she gave me the item I was looking at for $1.00:
