Chinese Motors/Dynamos
« on: April 16, 2021, 01:16:34 pm »
I actually completely forgot about these, but about 1½ month ago, i purchased several Chinese motor kits.
The BINs were clicked, to see how these are qualitywise, and if nothing else, if at least some of the parts can´t be used in dynamobuilds.
It is completely doable, but pretty extensive to build a rotor, so figured if they could be salvaged from elsewhere, that would be a good start.

Received a REALLY cheaply built motor the other day, but evenso it appears to have some good parts on there, which could easily be transformed into a neat little 3 coiled DC dynamo, for use with the smaller engines.

...and a short rattly test on batteries here:

Today another set arrived, and expectations wasn´t all that high due to yesterdays experience, but i actually am a bit impressed.
Everything seems to be quite well made, even the plasticparts, and the rotor a very nice unit of a decent size.

Shouldn´t be necessary for something as simple as this, but a neat boon that it came with some really good and clear instructions  :D :D :D

Anyway, i hope i find the time to assemble this tonight, and hopefully test it as a genny as well, seing that it came with a plasticpulley in the kit.
Will report back on its behaviour later.
Cheers

Just finished assembling, and did a short genny test as well.

VERY easy to assemble, approx. 10 minutes incl. a bit of unnecessary fumbling.

It runs as a motor at a steady pace on 3V DC, and puts out approx. 2V DC when hauled by the 20.

The output can definitely be optimized, as i had to put A LOT of strain on that green belt, to keep it from slipping on the smooth wide plastic pulley.
Actually to the point where the plastic bearingposts started to warp slightly, which definitely doesn´t make anything go smoother.
Cheers
