New Arrival: Bing 130/262 From 1909

I'm really interested in ship's engines. This nice early Bing model just came to me from Switzerland.

That's in beautiful condition Jim. I love the tile floor and have been seeing more and more
Bings in that fuchsia color, or is it poiple. Either way it's pretty. Nice acquisition.

Congratulation Jim - wonderful model and very rare in this condition.
I wonder how you got this piece as I closely monitor the Swiss market and actually know every machine. The only consolation for me that it is now also in a beautiful collection.
I can only take my hat off - haha

Thanks for your comments, Tommy and Arnold. Arnold, the engine was sold by Schuler Auctionen AG in Zurich, a lot in their March 2022 auction.

Thanks, Charlie, good to see another one in operation. Mine doesn't have the displacement lubricator. What's the best way to lubricate the piston without it?

Lubricate the heck out of the piston rod is all I can think of.

Both engines look great! You can also lubricate the cylinder/piston by putting steam oil into the exhaust pipe/port and turn the flywheel by hand in reverse.

I share your predilection for ship's engines - and could kick myself somewhere that I missed a small Carette ship's at an auction in Germany...

And to beat Arnold on his private turf adds considerably to the value of this engine :D
