I wonder if ‘Anaconda’ is the name of or type of brass/brazing rod that that shaft was made from and was left on the piece. I have seen other rods with similar lettering.

Anaconda Copper was a large company founded in Butte Montana in the 1800's. I the 1920's they bought American Brass in Connecticut. They supplied copper products to the world.
