Recent eBay Purchase
« on: October 09, 2019, 08:51:51 am »
Here is my most recent purchase. I don't know anything about this engine. The boiler is heavily constructed and looks very early, but the engine looks to be machinist made from bar stock except for the curved spoked flywheel. It runs great on air and steam and on as little as 1PSI. The governor works well and and runs off a leather belt. I would appreciate any help in identifying the engine, boiler, or both. I ran it on steam, but have not fired the boiler, as it is missing the pressure gauge, which seem to run about $70 for a proper replacement.
I am very pleased with how this purchase turned out. The purchase price was just $2 below my max bid!

looks like a fine engine Doug, and it runs exceedingly well, it's nice to have something come along that exceeds your expectation every now and again. I find that one very intriguing...well done 😉👍

It’s a Beauty Doug.

Did you have to make any repairs to get it running?

You did a great job on the video.

I did have to work some WD-40 into the governor to get it loosened up, but other than that just some normal lubrication. The boiler needs a pressure guage, so i have not fired it. My steam source was my go to Jensen 20 for quick but short runs.

I'm hoping someone can identify the boiler at coolspring next week.

That's a super nice setup. Definitely worth the spend to get a pressure gauge.

Is that a functional governor? Looks like there might be linkage?

Yes, it is a functional governor. I should have changed the angle of the video to better show it working,

That's a nice engine Doug - hope the boiler turns out equally as good.
