Going back to my question earlier about running a steam engine on air. I have an adapter which screws into the whistle hole. I have read somewhere to NEVER run one like this. Surely that is what the safety valve is for? I don't know what pressure it opens at but it must open before the boiler explodes! I would have thought so anyway. Any further advice would be greatly appreciated before I cause some damage.
Thanks
Brian
Well the main bit of advice I would offer is to be sure the air source you are going to use in well regulated, such that there is no chance of putting any more than say 20-25 psi to it, 10-15 psi would likely be even better.
Thanks, my tyre pump can be set to any pressure, when it reaches that it switches off. I can set it to say about 10-15 psi and see what happens.
As per what Daniel stated, main thing is go easy and you'll be fine.
Cheers, will yet you know what happens
