Schoenner 102/3- possibly? Any help with ID appreciated
« on: April 18, 2019, 09:03:40 am »
When this was listed on the Bay, I saw that regulator and almost choked on my coffee in my haste to bid. Expecting a bidding war, I settled down to watch this fly out of my range. Somehow, with 7 bidders and 23 bids, I managed to snag this for less than $150 USD.
Now, granted, the eccentric is broken and the original chimney and burner are missing. But the main bits are there. I think I can do something with what I have.
Schiffmans notes mention a "matte black" variant (if my horrible german translation is correct) in addition to the faux brick finish. I can only find photos of variants that are blued. Can anyone show me what the original finish should look like? This appears to have been painted- I've only cleaned and oiled so havent investigated very far- and the paint looks somewhat original, to me. Any help is appreciated. The flywheel might be a little wonky [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

I and others aren't 100% this is Schoenner. Do you have any opinions as you seem to have recognized it?

I'd love to see your Comby, Wayne. I have a few of those- they are good engines
