sometimes you get lucky--early Jensen 10

I'm not a Jensen collector but couldn't resist this one. I'm no expert but it appears to be unmolested and in its 1930s original condition. I've not cleaned it or done anything to it except for painting the chimney which is a Jensen repro. Oiled it up, plugged it in and it ran like a Swiss watch.

Congratulations Brent, that sure is a nice looking plant!

Think the dating might be slightly later, just postwar, using up pre-war parts?

Anyway, i´m certain people way more knowledgeable than i step in shortly :)

Thanks Jan. I wouldn't know--just going by what I saw and read on Jensen's website. We'll wait for the expert opinion.

Wow - very nice find - congrats to this excellent "collectors" Jensen.
I am not very familiar with that Brand but would like to have one too.
Never have seen one in Switzerland...

That is a very nice piece. 
Jan is correct in that it is a very early post-war piece. The telltale signs are the dark blue paint and the use of the left over pre-war configured parts, namely the riveted boiler and the free standing lamp post. There are not many of these around and hence they are quite desirable. This configuration in dark blue is considerably harder to find than those with the pre-war robins egg blue color.

Major Congratulations Brent ..... what a wonderful find and acquisition!

When found in that fine of a condition, I most certainly would do nothing beyond a careful, light cleaning, just as I gather that you have done.

Wonderful piece of history in beautiful condition .... again, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Thanks guys. Jan, you were exactly right as confirmed by Gil who called to say it was made in 1945. My eyes aren't properly trained for observing these Jensen details. I think this was the easiest engine to get running that I've ever owned. Fill with water, oil, plug it in. Definitely built to last. I'm more partial to German engines which are (usually) much more fussy to get to proper running condition again.

A very nice find! I have never been fortunate enough to acquire a late ‘30s or early post war model 10, but I’m always looking. 😁
