Steam Engine cigar cutter?

Does anyone have any info on this steam related item?
It is up for auction, starting bid $25, and listed as
a Bing product.  Another is listed as a cigar cutter.
Could it actually work?

Wayne, this is a ERNST PLANK "LILIPUT" #160 cigar cutter of 1903-10.

It works as a paper weight and cigar cutter only and does not run on steam.

I presume the cigar ends would fall thru the 'boiler' to accumulate and
then be emptied thru the firebox door.  Still, I wonder, would the engine
work on air routed directly to it?  I see the whistle has no lever.  It
all looks so tempting.

Klaus Grutzga had one of these and it was auctioned off by Bertoia in 2012 after Klaus passed away.

I would not be too surprised if this is the same one resurfacing.

The Bing plate was from a reseller (not the Bing toy co. in Germany); the maker was Plank. These are not uncommon and one shows up about every year or so. Also non-functional as a steam engine.

so how does it "cut" cigars? is the chimney actually attached to a spring-loaded cutter?

Just checked...one sold for $250 and the other $550.
pretty darn pricey if you ask me.  I wonder if the
buyer thought they would run.

They're fairly rare and used to sell for much more than that. Don't run but highly detailed for such a tiny thing. The one which sold for $250 was missing its marble base.

My example here with an after thought for a piston-conrod connection, melted foundation and missing marble base
I had to see an example and it was a bit expensive considering the above...
