Steam Engine Displacement Lubricators

I noticed that Jin produces at least two different lubricator designs.

One that is easy to fill and drain and one that is difficult.
Easy: (Where can I source these on eBay?)

The 3rd one here is very difficult to fill. The oil cap has an R on it. I believe I ordered this from Germany. Most likely not a Jin product.

Bonjour,
As I use 480 grade oil for my machines, I use a syringe with a 1-2 mm brass pipe, so I would never use this lubricator. I like buying to JMC glass lubricators for my large machines but they are quite expensive.

On Jin's steam plant, I also changed the oil lubricator because it was not in the flow of the steam and not efficient:

In most of my hulls, I can not use my fingers to unscrew the plugs that are under the lubricators...

I see, P12 is the offset pipe oiler, so it's his newest design.

I did notice the inner diameter of the pipe that goes through the lubricator is rather small. Should I bore that out or is it critical to the device due to Venturi effect?

It emulsifies well.

The forest classics steam oil smells so bad. It's that horrible vomit smell that rear end gear oil has.

Does it smell like putrid gear oil?

I think the oil that Forest Classics is selling isn't real steam oil. It's gear oil masquerading as steam oil.

Haha I actually like the smell of gear oil, but I can see that you do not  :D

Green Velvet does not smell like gear oil and I believe some forum members (IndianaRog, maybe Gil, etc.) have also used it in the past.

PM Research sells steam cylinder oil in 8oz or 1qt bottles (just over 50 cents an ounce by the quart, much cheaper than ebay alternatives...)

Are you able to eat Durian fruit? Some people think Durian tastes super yummy but others like me actually think it tastes like poop. I heard that it depends on the genetics of the person.

You must be nose-blind to the sulfur compounds?

Never heard of it... googled it, and it's definitely a strange looking fruit...

Nope, I can smell it very well... just like the refinery off Hwy 52 in Rosemount... love that smell!

The smell from the oil refinery causes me to turn off the car heater and hold my breath when I drove by it on the rare occasion. I am surprised that a human can love that smell.

Interestingly, I like the smell of well cared for cow's manure. The cows must be mostly grass fed.  I basically grew up on a old fashioned farm. My grandparents' farm was practically an artisanal farm.

One of their oils is green, can't remember which one... what did you pay (total after shipping) through that site? They sure shipped fast! Not sure what Jeff Lund is charging or if he still sells it... just seen him two weekends ago at a local steam-up

Nick, I am still working on my first quart of Green Velvet steam oil and another quart of Pin/Bearing and Journal (PB&J) oil purchased 10 years ago direct from Green Velvet.   

Their steam oil is the color of honey, their bearing oil is the green stuff.
