Good advice from BretI believe @Jim has a Centurion. Only thing I can think of if the SV isn’t blowing is an uprated valve, but I don’t think they’d put a 40 psi valve on, maybe 20-25 at the most...Did you buy it new? The instructions may say what the SV is supposed to blow off at.
Is the safety valve blowing? That appears high for normal running. Most toy steam engines run fine with 10 to 20 PSI.If it takes that much pressure, you might have binding or valve timing might be off.
