I just finished the layout board for my 3” X 6.5” boiler. The boiler uses 13 fire tubes and heats quickly. The burner is a home built ceramic unit working nicely at 5psi propane. The Clarkson vertical engine started this all off when I stubbed my toe on a box of rough castings. Some of the castings were hard as diamonds, but I used all of them. Running on steam for the first time, I see a few leaks needing work. The layout bricks are clay mini bricks I thought would look nice and provide insulation between the burner and the base board. I took all the engines off the bookshelf to give them a try.

Quite a boiler, and large enough to run that pmr3. LOL
This was my first experience with a boiler. It seemed much smaller on paper.
A very nicely turned out boiler , I really like the cap treatment , it looks very handsome & runs those engines effortlessly.
Very nice.....Good job...
I still need to make a proper connection between the boiler outlet and the engines. I plan to use insulated hard line from the boiler to a port mounted at the base. The base port will have a connection flange with the same on the engine bases. I’m researching small disconnect devices to allow quick changes of steam devices. Fish tank hose is not a great material, but I wanted to try out the boiler. Need to sketch out some options to decide what would be functional and not objectionable looking. Always looking for suggestions.
A great set-up.
Can't wait to see the final finished product.
