So today I tried the engine out with a little aquarium pump.
And it goes! :)



It still needs a lot of cleanup but I'm very pleased to see it moving.

First one that I believe I have seen running  8)  Was this an ebay find? antique shop find?

It was in fact an E bay find, I figured for $80.00 and shipping it would be a fun restoration.

Seems to me that Dave, firefite, was reproducing the old style whistles with the thumb screws, I won't post his email but you can contact him from my site:

Great work!

Did you make the whistle?  If not, where did you find one?

BTW: I use Permatex High Temp Red RTV Silicone Gasket Maker to seal the twist in safety valves and whistles on these old Weeden Engines.

Charlie, I was able to get in touch with Dave who makes whistles. (see reply #25 above)
I believe that he also sells SV weights.

Curious about your process,
Do you just make a ring of gasket maker around the hole in the boiler and twist the safety valve in and let it cure, or
do you apply a thin layer on top first, then after it cures twist the valve in at a later time?
