The glass is not hard to remove for cleaning, I have done it on mine. Just be gentle when peeling the rubber gasket away from the glass, after removing the screws.

The vinegar idea probably works, I do not know. But be aware that vinegar is a mild acid, so do not leave it in the boiler and forget about it.
