Who knows this machine?
« on: July 13, 2021, 01:32:04 pm »
A member in the German "Dampfforum" has posted pictures of an unknown steam engine model in the forum. It is not yet known whether this is a professionally made engine or the homebuilt of a talented hobbyist. Do any of you know this machine? Does the construction style look familiar to anyone?

Should you recognize the machine, someone will surely be pleased.
By the way, the machine is not for sale.

The engine base, at least, looks like something that would have been manufactured, looks like cast aluminum and very few home-builders would be able to make that? That part alone would seem to suggest that maybe the entire plant is a manufactured item. Just my opinion.

Maybe with a modified or home built boiler and a Marklin whistle.

Thank you Gregowen, Thank you Walter

for your assessments. I also tend to think that it is a professional production at least in some parts. I did not even think about the similarity of some elements with Bischoff, Dresden. But this is not to be denied.

Maybe someone from the forum has more information. Let's wait and see.

Anyway, I think it's great that you have answered immediately.

Well, Jürgen, Bischoff is a good guess, the casting of the cross-head support is very typical.

My guess, however, is EPD (E. Pässler, Dresden) from the 1950s. I will attach a photo of my large EPD engine, DDR/GDR 1950s. EPD either used Bischoff parts or must have shamelessly copied them.
I have not seen any EPD engine with such a boiler/boiler house so far. Home made? Pressure gauge and fitting seem to be Märklin!?!? [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Hello Thomas,
Thank you for taking the time to look at the pictures. I will pass on your tip. Any ideas on how to identify the machine are very welcome.
So, thank you very much for that.
Cheers
Jürgen
