Several mysteries to solve.

Why does the manometer tend to read zero under full steam? I tested mine under air and it reads perfectly.

This YouTuber 75echo's engine's manometer is reading near zero and it is running a heavy load:
Do you really think it's that low??

I found a manometer that screws into the filler hole, so soon I will have one to double check.

Do you other owners notice the wacky manometer??

Pierre was able to get his 16052 to be a smart runner. Any idea on that the factory did?
On mine, I noticed the lateral movement of the crank is near zero. I found that engines that are too tight don't run well (of any size). Are the better runners looser?

The pressure is probably accurate. With the air you have a much larger supply to maintain the pressure. The pressure with steam will balance out when the use and steam production become equal. I lusted after one of those for a long time and it turned out to be a huge disappointment. Under a load mine would literally freeze up after running a little while. I was so happy the day that I got it and even happier the day that I sold it!

Chris @CBWho, I can finally answer your question, mine seems to work well. Ignore the dirty gauge glass, was waiting to clean it till it leaked (that's been 11 years now...  :D  )

Mine appears to be like yours. worked at first, now reads zero on steam, but fine on air.

The other issue with mine is that the SV leaks so to build up a big head of steam, gotta have a big fire.
When the alcohol gets low, there is no turn the regulator off and let the steam build... On my Wilesco boilers, the SV allows me to build up pressure slowly...

Can the SV be unscrewed on the 16051? It would be nice to fit an adapter for a Wilesco SV or put in an original historic Märklin SV.

My SV doesn't leak. I get a little seepage early on, then when it's hot, seals fairly well.
I imagine it unscrews, don't know for sure.

Same, if it bubbles, give it a quick lift and blow the seal clean

Yes, it unscrews, mine has 3 gaskets under it to get it lined up right.
