DHL nightmare
« on: November 30, 2019, 01:34:32 pm »
I recently won a Chinese hit / miss engine on Ebay. The seller has contacted me and told me that
there is a "problem" with my address. DHL does not recognize my zip code for my address. They are
telling the seller that the zip for Beach Park is something different than what I gave them. Despite many
e-mails insisting my zip code is correct they tell me it's wrong or DHL does not recognize it. Has anyone
Else had this problem? I am beyond the threshold of normal frustration at this moment. What can I do?

Paul.

Maybe have it shipped to a friend or relative with a different zip.

How about you tell your seller that if DHL won't deliver it to you at your zip code and address where hundreds of other packages have arrived on time and without incident, that said sender should tell DHL to return it to them so they can ship it by a more reliable courier like the post office or even one of the combination FedEx-post office hand-offs.

I have honestly never heard of such a thing, its small wonder DHL never made much of a splash here.

DHL has an alliance with USPS. Once the item lands in the US, it’s handled by USPS even during custom clearance. The seller is probably providing wrong info to the carrier.

I don't know what the problem was but the item is now on its way.

I had this happen twice. I suspect the DHL forms are confusing. It's easy to misplace the address parts.

Not as confusing as calling them for help!

I had a package from the UK being sent this past week, DHL held it up in customs because it was addressed to N Severson instead of Nick Severson  ::)

I called for help, but US DHL could not find the reason why it was being held and couldn't do anything about it, so I had to contact the shipper and he had to call UK DHL to fix the problem.

I don't even want to begin to tell the story about shipping my Maxitrak Case through DHL!  >:(

I noticed that US DHL basically knows nothing about German DHL. It's bizarre.

The USA DHL website doesn't show tracking for German DHL packages, I must visit the German language website.

I did eventually get the engine. I've been running it since I got it for my Christmas present
for hours on end. Needless to say, I'm very pleased with it. I made use of the useful info posted
Here on this forum concerning these little engines. Thanks all.
