Good news Jim, those brass gears were not used

That's good news Nick because there's none in our box.
Really have to think about the build (especially with a keen 10 year old) and study the plans, its easy to misread and make a mistake.
School bus doesn't get to our neck of the woods till 3.40pm, by the time he walks home, drops his stuff off and rides his bike over to our place we only will have about
45 minutes on the weekdays he comes to do a bit. Weekends we might move a bit more forward.
Going to be a long, but enjoyable project until its completely finished and running off a steam engine
Are you running it with a belt and pulley or wiring it up to a genny?

Belt & pulley Nick.
Not 100% sure how I will do that though, been studying Bruce's vids.

Uh oh , been a day or two since I built it , but slow & sure is the order of the day , I remember taking it back apart a few times because of a incorrect piece used in the wrong place. If I can be of any assistance
Jim, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks Bruce, much appreciate the offer of help and I will most definitely take you up on that when I get more along as I can't work out from your vids how you put your pulley that you turned on your lathe into the mechanics of the ferris wheel. Young James wants to make it just like "Bruce's" as he's really impressed with the fairground atmosphere that you created with the ticket booth etc so I can see that the rest of my year is taken up in the afternoons with my grandson and I thank you for that
Just an update - Yesterday Bruce went out to his workshop and made a video for James and myself showing in close detail and well executed verbal explanation how he went about his mod on the FW to get it to run so nicely on steam. What wonderful mateship that is! Bruce, I sent the link to James's Dad last night and all the family watched it on their TV, I got a phone call after they did and they were very impressed with Bruce from St Paul Indiana USA !!! Thank you mate

Garsh...I am humbled, I hope it helped & glad they enjoyed it.

Isn’t it crazy how fast these builds eat the hours away!?!

I knew it was going to go slow Nick when Bruce said it took 7 hours and Charlie said he did it over a long weekend.
I'm trying to let James do as much as possible and his smaller fingers (compared to my big fat ones) are great for getting
those pesky nuts on. There's definitely some thought must go into reading the plans and explaining them. Its certainly a quality product
that's for sure.
On the counter behind James I see a nice collection of Vodka a couple of bottles deep.
I hope they're not getting in the way and slowing you down.

For medicinal purposes only Tommy 😊
What an awesome project with your Grandson Jim.
Please continue to provide updates.
This is really a neat kit!
Cheers,
Charlie
