Need assistance in identifying this engine
Well, here another version from my collection (as the one in the video posted by Arnold).This time the famous "Umsteuerung", reversing gear, patented in 1906, for two-cylinders. Quite rare, if I am not mistaken...

If I may add:
The plaque shown in the third photo posted by Don6698 say "German Engine D.R.P.", quite a common error as DRP is not the abbreviation of a company's name but short for "Deutsches Reich Patent" (i.e.patented in the German Empire; 1877-1945). There was also a "minor" version, the DRGM = Deutsches Reich Gebrauchsmuster", which offered some protection for a certain model oder design.
You will find the DRP on some early Carette engines.
