In the pic what is this or its purpose
The wingnut filler cap? or the white looking wire?
Yes thanks, didnt want to remove unless i had to in case it broke lol
So when you fill it from the safety valve port leave the wingnut cap off. When water starts to flow out back wingnut hole its full and you can now replace safety valve and wingnut. A lot of engines have similar if no sight glass. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
I believe what you have is a 1977 UK model since it has the cutout for the sight glass in the firebox but still uses the overflow plug. The US export model would have had the sight glass installed. If you can’t remove it, leave it in and try removing it after a steam up. The temperature change may help loosen it up.
Fer now im not messing with it as it doesnt leak! Lol
