This afternoon i went to a local relatively large flea market/swap meet/car boot sale, and eventually managed to spend some hard earned cash...
Not that it is likely to keep me from paying my mortgage though, since it only set me back 1½ buck...yes that right, i paid $1.52USD/£1.16GBP for that little thingie.
Had they held a smile of the day competion, i am certain i would have brought home a trophy as well, if caught while strolling out towards the parking lot with my new acquisition.
Some oxidation on the SV/Whistle, but none on the boiler, and the bluing appears to be quite nice as well.
My main problem now is ID“ing this one, and would really appreciate some assistance if possible, as i have close to no knowledge or data on this manufacturer.
What i know:
It“s a J.Falk (JF embossed in the firebox)
Boiler diameter: 5.0 cm
Flywheel: 5.5 cm
basesize: 14.5 cm X 9.5 cm
Height: 19 cm
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh beauty. Well done Jan.
Why would someone even waste their time trying to make a buck and a half on it??? Glad they didn't just throw it in the trash!!
Very lucky find, with the burner too
That is a real gem and at 1.52 USD, an incredibly good buy!
Notice the mounting tabs/tacks don't even violate the original base so no unwanted holes.
Even has a burner.
Congratulations...!!!
Gil
Agreed that was a great buy for just over a quid!
I think that will clean up nicely Jan, having the burner is a nice bonus too!
Thanks guys !
@Nick there“s a slight twist to the story on this deal, and it WAS very close to ending in the trash...
It was just before closing time, and the seller was packing his stuff up for the day, when i passed by his table and asked if i could have a look at that tintoy.
He said "Sure, we“ve just sold our house and bought a smaller flat instead. We would try to give this fleamarket a shot, to see if any of our "surplus" would sell, and take the rest straight to the dump...if you pay me 10 kroner (Danish currency), it“ll at least pay for two cold cokes, when we“re done unloading there".
How“s that for being at the right place, at the right time
Jeez, that was a close one

Great Story Jan
Well done Jan - I hope you feel at least a little ashamed for stealing that engine.
Nice score there Jan!
My go to Falk reference doesn't show this exact model and the one it shows that looks the closest only says "No Identification", so I guess its just a "UBF" ... Unidentified Bargain Falk!!!
I believe the model number is:
U5T0LE1T
Talk about falling in a pile and coming out roses.
Doesn't get any better than that Jan, did you buy a Lottery ticket too?
Dave
well done Jan....besides being free....I believe this is the best "paid for" purchase I've ever heard of...Wow !
What a steal, Jan. Be honest, you were cackling like a madman on the way back to the car.
I've looked through my books, with no luck. I've seen that engine somewhere...I will get back to you.
Nice buy!
Incredible bargain Jan! If you're like me, you will keep going back to that flea market, hoping against all odds that another equally great bargain will be found a second time.
