I started my model engine building career with Stuarts. The first one was just the 10 vertical. I learned how to machine one piece cranks, fixturing and setups. Great kits.
Thanks for sharing your Stuart builds with us George, you have some very nice engines and i love the miniature Stuart copies you made too!
Stuart Family Portrait (without Stuart No. 1)
You have a very nice selection of engines Charlie, nice to know the No1 came from that famous shop.

A very nice example Jeff.
I still don’t have a Stuart Beam. I have bid on many of these on eBay, but never won. I would prefer to buy one from a trusted source (aka another Forum Member).
Thank you , I finished the beam engine model in 1987 , It has been to many steam shows running all day .

Wise choice Charlie, I've ended up with some real duds from ebay...
Here's my Stuart beam. Probably a dud, too....

Looks pretty nice to me.
Have you tested it on air yet?
Yes, I have. Just kidding about the "dud." It runs reasonably well, though it came to me with a heavy knock in the connecting rod, which has been corrected by the manufacture of a new pin at the top end.
I'll have to clean it up a bit and pant it, but that's way down my list.
