I know that this probably (most definitely for Nick!) isn't bitterly cold, but 3°C mornings for this Aussie who wears shorts 365 days a year is COLD!!!!!
We haven't had a Winter this cold for sometime, watching some rabbits scampering about outside the windows this morning I noticed that they are exceptionally fluffier than normal so they must have known something to grow a Winter coat.
Going through a lot of wood.

My recommendation is for you to get yourself some long pants for emergencies like this!!! ;c)
I'd love to get one of those kinds of heat driven fans for my wood stove, but my stove top doesn't really get hot (only just warm) because it has a fully surrounded chamber fire box and a fan at the back that blows the hot air from around it. That all works okay, but the electric fan does make a bit of noise and run the electric bill up a mite.
