Jan, my wife, happened to say the other day that she didn't especially like our TV stand so, recognizing a very small crack in the armor, I went for it by saying I wouldn't mind having a smallish display cabinet to hold a couple of my things and that the TV could probably sit on top. Could hardly believe it when she said that sounded okay! Striking while the iron was still hot I headed south to Ikea and found this cabinet. A "little" larger than our understanding but since it was solid beech and nicely made we brought it home. Some remote lighting and backdrop pictures finished it off - it actually looks a lot better than the picture and will serve well to a slowly rotating display of part of my collection.

That's nice. Which model IKEA cabinet? Oh, and please tell us about the tractor on the bottom shelf!
The cabinet is a Malsjo and it's a Markie Showman's Special on the bottom shelf.
What a fortuitous opportunity and salubrious solution .... congratulations on a true coup d'etat ... and in the living room no less!
Looks STELLAR Larry!!!
Absolutely smashing!!!
Great strategic work on an opportunity not wasted!
Well done Larry !, a win /win for all, a rarity in this area for sure.....but non-the less you pulled it off !
handsome cabinet & well made to boot. ( I noticed that fine TE in the bottom also)
Looks great !
Well done Larry...on both the opportunity and the choice of cabinet.
That was quick thinking Larry!
I have been looking for some new glass display cases and these are very nice.
Well done with the lighting and backdrops!
Awesome Larry, you now have the choice between watching TV or looking at your collection....win win.
I think Ikea stock might have just risen a bit. Great looking cabinet and wise move on your part to strike while the iron was hot.
Rog
Larry what is that fine looking thing in the domed glass case between the bookshelf and your new display case?
Jim, that's my blue vertical of French Naval Academy provenance - it was built in 2012 by Steve Buys.....it is definitely the pride of my collection.
