Having been on holiday and worked over Europe and Africa I have never lived more than 3 miles from the house I was born in. Is this unusual ?.
Don't think so Pete ... I've heard of people who have never been more than a few blocks from where they were born in places like New York.
I've also heard of farm folks who never got beyond the nearest town.
Perhaps a bit uncommon, as most folks do get about some, but not really all that unusual.
I bought a house about 2 blocks from where I grew up. It's faster to walk over and see my parents than it is to get in the car and drive
I think that's great Pete - I'm the stay around home boy in my family, 18 miles away is the farthest I've gotten.
Pete are you a blue bar or blue checker homing pigeon?
I've only ever lived in two homes, both family homes (100 miles apart) its a nice feeling sitting under and getting shade from trees that a past generation of mine planted 120+ years ago.
Pete, if my folks hadnt sold the family property after my grandpa passed, i have a feeling i would still be there. I love my solitude and peace but miss being able to walk over and see my family.
Nothing wrong with coming home after you've sown your wild oats
