Good looking setup Lenn - glad it works well. Does it tend to grab a piece and send it flying or is just hand pressure enough to keep it under control? Sure beats spending a thousand or more on a commercial rig.
Thanks Larry, ya feed it against rotation and not to deep of a cut and seems to go fine.
Looks good Lenn, can you wheel it outside so that it doesn't fill your workshop up with dust?
Thanks Jim, can carry it but the shop is so full of dust now it don`t matter, gets to bad i get the leaf blower out and blow it out the door.
Leaf blower ...... brilliant!
Ya gotta tie a few things down but it will clear the dust out.
Thatīs a cool tool Lenn, well done !
Any chance of a video, would like to see it "gnawing"?
Thanks Jan, maybe later today i have a couple more things i want to do to it first.
Thanks Dave, we`ll see how it holds up.
Thanks for the vid Lenn, looks like it does a fine job that one.
I really like it, and will consider setting up something similar, if my present dream of a dedicated combi planer doesnīt come through soon.
However, with the risk of being named the do-gooder of the month here...
To me the risk of it spitting out a piece of wood is definitely there, should a really hard point in the wood or even a hidden ingrown nail come up, so please do remember to keep the "line of fire" clear.
I would consider adding some adjustable "feather boards" to hold/steer the workpiece, thereīs some fancy ones available at Amazon i believe, and (whenever possible) use a push stick when handling the workpiece from the feeding side.
Wow Lenn ... how did I miss this thread?
Cool Beans Pard!!!
I will second Jan's concerns on that unit however .... it is most definitely not OSHA approved ...... probably a good part of why I like it! Maybe a disclaimer like: "Children, do not try this at home. This video is performed by a total professional, who likely has the scars to prove it !!!" ;c)
It does seem like I'm copycatting you with my posts however, as the high volume pencil pointer that I put up photos in Pt. 1 of my Collections I didn't know I had thread, is nothing if it isn't a Drum Sander that's not all that different from the one you are showing here!
