Recently there has been a concerted effort by “some people doing some things” to erase statues and images. Churchill almost got it, Washington was toppled along with Jefferson, and now Teddy Rosevelt is being historically purged
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/06/21/teddy-roosevelt-statue-to-be-removed-from-museum-of-natural-history/ This got me thinking about which steam engines will the torch-wielding crowd deem unworthy of current P.C. norms. Can they twitter-issue a polit proclamation and order them to be spray painted with graffiti and toppled down to the ground ? My older German engines are hiding in the corner of the basement for obvious reasons, but I wonder how much latent guilt will be assigned to the Weedens and the Jensens.
Weeden did have an early Afro-Americana themed steam toy, a kid throwing a cat in a well, and an asian juggler (animal cruely, cultural appropriations needing reparations?). Rumor was that old man Jensen had his wife paint some parts on the kitchen table (misogynism or sexism ?) And I dare not even begin with what the ‘peoples party’ will think of erasing in Marklins long history.

So —— Who’s next for the chopping block? Anybody got a toy steam guillotine ?
Don't give them any more ideas, they've destroyed enough important historical monuments already.
I've declared my property as a monument safe zone. If you or anyone you know has a monument or statue that needs a safe home until the madness is quelled, hit me up.
And if you don't believe in Marxism, communism or socialism you are likely welcome as well.
Oh, I'm afraid that I truly do believe in Marxism, communism and socialism .... I truly believe they are the greatest evil on the surface of the earth today!!!
As for the desecration of any statue or monument for most any reason, within the USA today, I believe those responsible need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, for destruction of public property, sedition, willfully inciting riot and quite possibly treason!
I also believe that we have the technology to actually determine who a majority of these perpetrators are, and they should be gone after to the best of our ability. All of these events are well covered by video, while masks and hood are not as good at keeping anonymity as they once were!
If it's just a case of being removed from view, then that is rather like protective custody, which is wrong in every way, but at least they will still exist to come forward on another day.
If something isn't done soon, our history as a nation will be erased. And the malaise shown by officials to stop this is disgusting. And this is just the beginning. I wonder, can we hold out until elections?

Already too late? Gone With The Wind
https://twitchy.com/gregp-3534/2020/06/10/hbo-max-ends-racism-by-removing-the-film-starring-the-first-african-american-to-win-an-oscar/We are in the midst of a Cultural Revolution. A re-reconstruction based on what Auntee Teefa has in store for us. Maybe we can only sing a sad steam song :
Virgil Kane is the name
And I served on the Danville train
'Till Stoneman's cavalry came
And tore up the tracks againIn the winter of '65
We were hungry, just barely alive
By May the 10th, Richmond had fell
It's a time I remember, oh so well
The night they drove old Dixie down
And the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down
And the people were singing
They went, "Na, na, la, na, na, la" .....
Question ; should we pick out the ‘non-essential’ steam engines of our collections to heap upon the bonfire of the vanities now? Or , since some of the engines seem to have a
voice of their own’ , should we leave the deciding of which shall be sent to the gulag to them?
Oh well here is a cultural revolution clip from a 9 academy award film. The young kids on the accordions and the dancing girls are interesting.

That clip about nails it, only it is the modern "teachers" here, that have facilitated much of what we are now witnessing!!!
Not all. My dad was a volunteer that did 2 tours in Vietnam, came home to completely undeserved disgust and vitriol, and promptly entered college to study criminal sciences after which he entered Police Academy. Graduating in a turbulent time, he served with distinction until retirement 23 years later. He remained retired for about 6 months, when he was asked to be the Chief of the town he lived in. He again answered his civic duty and retired only after he become to sick to perform his duties. He raised us to respect family, community, nature, the law, the country and the flag. My brother raised good kids, and they can't be the only ones out there. America has weathered anarchists and marxists before. And there were newspaper people printing absolutely trash same as we have now.
I'm with jasper. Come and try... [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
The current Progressives clearly haven’t studied history:
“The Progressive Party was built on the strength of Roosevelt's ideas. Roosevelt portrayed himself as an advocate for the average citizen, whom he said should play a larger role in government. His running mate Johnson was a progressive governor of his state, who had a record of successfully implementing social reforms.
True to Roosevelt's progressive beliefs, the platform of the party called for major reforms including women's suffrage, social welfare assistance for women and children, farm relief, revisions in banking, health insurance in industries, and worker's compensation. The party also wanted an easier method to amend the constitution.
Many prominent social reformers were drawn to the Progressives, including Jane Addams of Hull House, Survey magazine editor Paul Kellogg, Florence Kelley of Henry Street Settlement, Owen Lovejoy of the National Child Labor Committee, and Margaret Dreier Robins of the National Women's Trade Union.”
It's all getting quite sickening, I don't watch the news or read a paper. Anything I see is on Facebook or a forum, so probably one-sided.
My dad was bored sitting in his truck the other day, so he called PepsiCo and asked them what they're going to do about Quaker Oats. They were confused and asked what he meant, so he told them he was offended by the label... he said his parents were Quakers and he's offended because they don't even dress like that anymore.

Too much time on his hands

They said they would file his complaint
he called PepsiCo and asked them what they're going to do about Quaker Oats.

They want to change Eskimo Pies, Redskins, Chicos, Coon Cheese and a whole lot of other brand names here.
