Empire Steam Wagon Modifications
« on: February 16, 2022, 09:44:29 am »
I have been working on some modifications.

The cross brace that holds the Empire Engine was only glued in and when it arrived the glue had given way.

I bolted the cross brace to the frame and leveled it as best I could.

I also turned the engine around as I thought it looked better with the sight glass and chimney/safety valve in the rear.

I fixed the whistle and added a replacement whistle top made by a fellow forum member.

I also added a new wagon driver.

My concept for the wagon was an advertising wagon for the top two Steam Shows (Cabin Fever and N.A.M.E.S.).

A pair of 7 1/2” Clydesdale Horses were purchased on a BIN from eBay for $21 and I am awaiting delivery.

In the mean time, below are some pictures of the work in process:

That's a lot nicer looking driver. Flipping the boiler around sure gave you more room behind the
driver seat. A little popcorn machine would look good in there too. :D

Neat Mods Charlie, I knew this setup had potential to be something really special, neat show side panels. when the horses come that will complete the set for sure. (Despite what Shirley says....lol)
