Think i might have overrestored a Märklin here?
Have a little tired looking 4095/5 here, which i casually look at from time to time, while trying to decide what to do with it. [ Guests cannot view attachments ] Yesterday, while searching the workshop for a quick project, i noticed that the black cylindercover had lived a rough life, with very little of the original black paint left.So decided to remove it, sand it down, and give it a fresh coat of paint...so that at least one thing could look good on it.I got just past the sand it down part, and was then otherwise engaged, so left it on the bench there.Today i was trying to bring some life into a tired looking shotgun barrel, and while rubbing away on that, i figured i´d try the Birchwood Super Blue on the Märklin cover as well.It could do no harm, since it can be polished off again quite easily, and it was destined for a paintjob anyway. It actually didn´t come out halfbad on there, and think this little bugger is going to have to live without a painted cover
I’d keep it that way too 👍
Think you've got a winner there Jan .... if it will stand up to steam and oil, which it should!
What I've seen so far is very good. If you continue like this, the steam engine will definitely be a real eye-catcher again. Fun to follow your report.😃
I’d keep it that way too 👍
dito
I use Shot Flon - a german product - probably the same stuff
