Hi all,
Does anyone know of a good book on steam engine repair and restoration? I am particularly interested in Mamod but there doesnt seem to be much around?
Thanks
Dave
Hello Dave
If you are reading this, then you are currently logged into one of very the best references for restoration information available anywhere, regardless of brand!
Ha...I 100% agree with you Stoker!! I just love a book! I dont even like PDF's when working on things, I prefer paper. You wouldnt think I am a GIS software analyst by trade!!
Cheers

Well okay then, about all I can say to that is, I have actual tonnage of books in my library, mostly on historical and technical matters, and am a dedicated page turner myself.
That being said, I am truly unaware of any printed sources of in-depth toy steam restoration information, and suspect that if there actually are any out there, they would pale compared to what is available here and elsewhere on the internet. I know of many video restoration compilations on YouTube to be sure, several of which are sourced here BTW, so there is that as well.
I'm sure there are no books as yet on this subject. But there are plenty of books on basic soldering, metal shaping, metal turning on a lathe, etc., all of which are important for restoring toy steam engines. Older books are often the most useful.
A couple nice books for learning to use a metal Lathe:
