Just picked up a mid 70's D365 and it needs a few parts. Before I order new, I thought I'd see if anyone here has some spares they'd be willing to sell. Shipping from Wilesco in Germany is crazy expensive, so also looking for parts vendor recommendations for the future. (US customer)
Here's what I'm looking for:
1.Collared screw and spacer for piston rod to crank disc.
2.Steam chest oiler (mine is missing the cap)
3.Green stack.
Thanks guys!
Tom
Try Ministeam, not cheaper but less freight. You might come off better buying a beater for parts than buying new replacement parts.
I have some spares but not what you need, sorry.
Thanks for checking your parts bin for me Dr. Rev.. I'll keep an eye on E-Bay for a beater. MiniSteam looks like a pretty nice site that should suit my needs. Glad to see it recommended by someone who's been around a while.
Thank you for all of your time and effort Classixs! I have taken your advice and sent Peter and e-mail. It looks like I'll choose between Peter, Ministeam in the US or Forest Classics in the UK. It is nice to have several options.
Regarding shipping from England and the EU during these covid days...
As far as I've been told by several European sellers, even a small part,
like an oiler cap, could cost many times the purchase price to ship.
If I could get little parts shipped from Europe for a reasonable price,
I'd be happier than a kid in a candy store. I have had 3 engines shipped
from Germany, and I willingly paid the expensive shipping for them because
the purchase price was quite a bit more than the shipping price. The total,
to-my-door price, was within reason.
Good Luck and happy steaming,
Wayne
No added costs from Germany, as far as i can tell from the shipping-websites iīve checked.
UK may be another matter. Just last month had to cancel a couple of orders from there myself, since they couldnīt ship private parcels internationally at the moment, and didnīt know when the ban was to be lifted again.
Thanks for the heads up Wayne. Eventually, I'm sure that I'll buy things from many different vendors, so I guess I'll just make the call as I go. Looking at Bix burners, and I think the UK is the only place to get them. (?)
Classixs, thanks for recommending Peter Schaeffer in Germany. He has responded to me already and has everything in nickel plate as I wanted. His shipping charge is much more reasonable than another vendor that I quoted. I'm not in a big rush, so if it takes a little longer to get the parts, it's OK.
