Here's the Clarence B. Randall, named for the CEO of Inland Steel.

Over 4 feet long and radio-controlled, with a Meccano motor and a 6v security-light battery.

Looks just like the real thing (I grew up in a town bisected by the Welland Canal, and saw a lot of these freighters, and possibly even the original of this specific one, which was scrapped in about 1979).

Of course, having waited for the bridge hundreds of times, I just had to have this when I saw it. It's the only one I've never had to wait for....

It's not a locomotive, but it is battery-powered, so I put it here.

Lovely model - reminds me of one a young member of our railroad club was going to build I think from a kit. It was HO 1/87th scale and supposedly about four foot long - never got built as he went to college and then work but it would have been a nice diorama to have connected to the layout.

Here are some pics of Midland Sidings, a 16mm(ish) scale, 5-3-3 Inglenook shunting puzzle. It's ~9' x 2' and sits on Sievers benchwork. I shared pics of a previous iteration on the other forum and a lot has changed. It's a work in progress and I'm currently working on the wire and post fence (my new Micro-Mark mini chop saw has come in very handy). Locomotives include Accucraft Baguley Drewery 0-6-0 and Manx Northern Railway No. 4 Caledonia, which run (one at a time) on an auto-reverse circuit on the background track. An R/C Roundhouse Little John is used to operate the puzzle. Rolling stock includes modified/painted Hartland Locomotive gondolas as well as Bole Laser Craft wagons and an IP Engineering G van, all built from kits. People are Little Plastic People. The car is a 1:18 Peel P50. Future projects include a partial freight platform and weathering rolling stock.

Good looking layout, nice craftsmanship and Little John looks good in blue - thanks for identifying  everything as the gondolas and Little Plastic People look like something I could use. Looking forward to updates as things progress.

Thanks! The Hartland gondolas have Bachmann 1:20.3 fine scale metal wheels, which roll and look much better than the original plastic. LPP operates through Etsy and the proprietor is a nice guy. He also produces 7/8ths scale figures. I see that Little John will be discontinued by Roundhouse at the end of this year.  .
