I decided that I would like to extend the length of the first circuit but didn't really want to extend it further down the garden. My solution was to convert the passing loop on the first circuit into a second circuit around the inside of the first ...

The layout now has two crossover points (one is hidden behind the rather dead tree fern) which means that I can run a single train around both circuits for a longer run or I can run two trains simultaneously.
It seems to work quite well.

You can basically operate that as a figure 8 with one loop folded inside the other .... cool!
