Not quite sure where best to post this, as it really should be of interest to many others besides just the model railroaders. but for now I will post it here on the Live Steam Locomotive board where it should definitely be of some interest!

It is a rather short "thumbnail" article, in five parts which are linked at the bottom of each page, that gives a reasonable synopsis of architectural, paint color and detailing influences of American manufactured steam locomotives in a truly seminal era, all of which is far more fully covered in the author's impressive book "Australia's Colourful American Locomotives" by David Fletcher.

Sadly, now out of print, and completely sold out as far as my searching has found thus far, there is fortunately a rather complete look at it on YouTube as seen here:

Please do, take the time to read the seminal article as was originally hosted on PacificNG.com, which sadly no longer seems a truly valid site, so that parts must be found on "The Wayback Machine", which while it did preserve much of the article, did not preserve all of the linked images!
