I picked up this genie oil lamp for a song, however no amount of polishing has produced a cute genie.
I suppose it's for the best that my genie house is vacant, from what I remember of the tv show, genie's can be quite troublesome.
Burning on olive oil right now, the solid brass lamp is not troublesome at all.

Thanks Bruce! It's small and only holds about 2 Tablespoons of oil, with the flame size shown in photo it burns about 2.5 hours, if you damper it down to a small candle flame size you can get about 4.5 HR burn time. They make larger lamps but the price was right on this one.
I had some rubber o-ring drive belt material in my cart and other small items and was within splitting distance of $25 order for free shipping, I added this to my cart to get free ship so it was sort of free? Lol
I don't know why but I always wanted one of these. -

I switched out to "modern" lamp oil, it's not as low odor as olive oil, but nearly as thin as water so the wick can really draw fuel.
I will show its range of flame size adjusted simply by pulling more wick out of the spout.
The largest flames are not practical for more than a minute or 2 as the lamp will get hot at those flame heights.

Much to large, starts to smell up the house and not safe to walk away from,

It seems I am easily entertained by fire, perhaps that is why I don't have many electric fired engines....yet

That's a good idea! There are several things you can fuel the little brass lamp with, but I did read in the reviews it will overheat with Alcohol, I have an idea to correct this. I think if I bend. Some copper tube in an L shape and slide one end in the spout and cut the vertical run so it's only perhaps 1/4 inch tall and run the wick thru this tube, it will get the base of the flame up off the brass lamp enough to aid in cooling. There may be some better ways, I will give it some thought.
Here we have an India lamp Firing a china Stirling, powering An unmodified USA Ertl cast display model engine.
The lamp height is nice for this Stirling and a couple of my others, I have ordered a second lamp of similar style that was very low cost to see if I can modify or perhaps even remove the lamp base to make a low rider lamp for some of my low Stirling engines.
The paraffin lamp oil is sooting the glass after only a couple minutes of run but there is plenty of heat and the glass cleans easily with just a wipe from paper towel for now.
