After 36 years I am finally ditching the cable company. I had Frontier communications, come in and run fiber optics into my home directly off their newly installed fiber line on my street into my home. Here is a picture of my download and upload speed.

Best of luck with that change over Gil.
We have Frontier for our land-line phone service, and find that they have been far less than stellar!
Wow!
A lot faster than my home internet.
I asked Optimum to port in a phone # I had on the shelf with Verizon Wireless. I liked it because it was easy to remember, 203-
529-5559.
They were terminally incompetent in getting this done. It took them nearly 8 months and many phone calls from me wasting hours and hours. Every time I provided a porting pin which requires I call VZW because they sat on it too long. The porting job once they have a pin takes minutes but the pin expires in 7 days. I finally got them to let me conference in VZW who's more than competent tech provided a new pin directly to the optimum guy over the phone and then held their hand and walked them through the process. Less than a week later they had my number ported in.
This was 4 months ago...aaarrrgggghh..X($&*__)(+_(#$%^*...!!! and they still haven't hooked it up.
Recently Frontier ran new fiber optic cable down my street. They are offering 500 Mbts, 1 Gigabit, and 2 GB all feeding off a cable capable of handling 10 GB per second when they roll it out. You know it's coming in the future considering the modem they provided came with a 10 GB ethernet port.
I am on my way out the door to go to Maine to see Joe Higgins and display at the Eliot, Maine show.

Greetings all. I have been operating on Frontier's fiberoptic data service for 8 days now.
I got a couple TV's all dialed in with YouTube TV for streaming my live stations (about 70 stations out of well over 100 offered) including local broadcasting. They were already set up with Netflix and Amazon Prime, Samsung TV, etc. I waited this long so I could be certain everything would stay up to par and operate smoothly.
Today I disconnected and packed all the Optimum cable hardware into a box and hand delivered it all to their nearby store and I called the cable company to speak with the disconnect department and let them know their services are no longer needed.
You might ask why 70 channels? This way I included all the stuff my daughter and granddaughter like (including Disney, Nick, and a host of others)
In addition to all the live channels, YouTube TV has tons of on demand shows and movies.
Again.... It all costs us about $100 per month less than Optimum and... after a year without, I finally have a working land line.!
Optimum is just not optimal.
The cable has been cut!

Here is (was) Optimum's hardware.
