I am posting this with permission from our Own Stewart O (empire man 202) he unfortunately has had a serious accident involving a tractor PTO (power take off) with his hand, he suffered series injuries including a broken arm & loss of part of his ring finger, the below photo's are pretty graphic & really tell how bad this was, Stewart told me the pto threw him around like a rag doll , amazingly he was able to secure the tractor & drive "himself" 8 miles to the Hospital without bleeding out. he just got out of the hospital this morning & I think it would be really fine if we could send him Prayers & best wish's for a speedy recovery, his spirits seamed up the whole time I have been corresponding with him & his one real regret is that his hunting season might be over for awhile.
please, lets all let him know how much we care....I know he can read this... but posting back will be difficult for him until he regains good use of his hand again.

I feel so bad for him!!

Just yesterday I worried about that injury, I was watching farming videos with PTO shafts exposed. Please make sure guards are in place. I remember my grandma made a guard from pvc tube. A neighbor was killed by a PTO shaft.
Please, I ask all people who deal with mechanical equipment, please take the wedding ring off and NEVER put it back on. Leave it in the jewelry box. I never wear mine. My wife is ok with that. I know of many stories where people got hurt.
A buddy of mine had to be rushed to ER to cut of his ring when it got bent tight on his finger. A guy I knew lost his finger jumping down in a hay barn - a steel nail snagged the ring.
Be safe. Another friend I know, he tattooed his ring so to be able to not wear his ring. Luckily my wife doesn't require that.
Stewart, you are in our prayers for a quick and comfortable recovery.
Be blessed,
Gil
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
OUCH !!!
Happy that it didnīt go any worse than it did Stewart, best wishes from here for a speedy recovery.
WOWIE ... OWIE!!!
From the description it sounds like it could easily have been all the way worse, but the pictures show it to have been plenty bad enough just as it was ... OUCH!
Stewart, you are one tough hombre to have picked yourself back up and taken care of business, even getting yourself to the hospital in that condition!!
You most certainly have my best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery .... and I do hope you somehow manage to get in a little hunting along the way!!! ;c)
My prayer is for a complete recovery for you and a praise that you were able to get to the hospital on you own. I gave up wearing my ring ten years ago after they cut it off in order to put a pin in my broken finger - Jan had it made into a twin heart's ring so all went well in that respect.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Stewart.
Oh No! That is terrible Stewart! Keep safe and get better soon!
Oh shit
As a farmer and always working with tractors i know the risks and consequences
Usually PTO mishaps result in death , he should consider himself very lucky .
We hope for a speedy recovery and not to many long term ramifications .
Dennis
Stewart, you are a very lucky man! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
I talked to him today and he is doing better.
He had surgery yesterday to have two plates put in his arm and was going back to his farm today to get his dog. His wife was driving.
Stewart, I wish you a speedy recovery.
Thanks every one for all the prayers Yes I am very lucky to still be here and have bunch of friends like all of you. It was quite the journey but getting better by the day and planning on making it to cabin fever . Going stir crazy all ready . Hopefully I can use my hand in a few weeks and work on a few engines
Thanks a bunch
Best wishes Stewart. After we talked the other night I have pulled my ring off for good. I have had an incident in the past that should have taught me better. But your story gave me the willies bad enough that I have quit wearing it for good. Now it goes on a necklace I wear occasionally with my late mothers wedding ring.
Good luck bossman and heal quickly!
