Have heard that there has been a significant Coronal Mass Ejection from the Sun that has a chance of brushing the earth later today on into tomorrow. If that happens it can interfere with radio signals, communication systems, satellites and virtually all electronic equipment, data storage and operating systems. Chances are likely slim that it will be this disruptive an event, but metal shielding for sensitive materials is not a bad idea to have handy for this sort of usage, as sooner or later a really powerful one will happen.

Meanwhile, if we do get clipped by this cloud of fast moving ionized (charged) particles, we may well get spectacular Aurora Borealis that could extend down to the mid-latitudes, so it may be worthwhile to have a look at the night sky tonight and tomorrow night.
