For You Pinball Fans
« on: June 25, 2020, 04:48:46 pm »
I recently sold several hit and miss engines that I had built over the winter, and with nowhere to go to spend the money on more engines, the only logical conclusion was to buy a new pinball machine!  The newest Stern pinball machines have a new color flat screen with incredible graphics, unachievable with the old dot matrix screens.  It was difficult to choose from, with all of the many new games, but I decided on The Black Knight for its game play and graphics.

That is neat Doug, they sure are getting high tech these days ,we used to own centaur and they take up a lot of room.

Charlie,
I have 30 pinball machines at the house, and no more room. I had to sell another game to make room for this one. My son collects as well, so spillover machines usually go to him, but i sold an older game he was not interested in. Yes, they do take up a lot of room, but you can store a lot of stuff underneath them!

I've never seen one with a dot matrix screen.
If I had the storage space... And the money... I'd have a few more engines.

Cool! Is the game play similar to the old Black Knight pinball game, which I vaguely remember playing a good bit in the late eighties?

Similar, but newer electronics makes the new games a whole new experiance with improved sound, led lighting, faster playfields and better graphics.

Since when do pinball machines need all that?

Kind of like asking when did cars need seat belts, a/c, auto windows , electric door locks, air bags and auto transmissions! Some people think they don't need any of those things- until they drive one. :)
My favorite feature of the newer pinball machines is the memory of high scores and the players initials. No more "embellishing", or scratching your score into the cabinet!
There are some great old games from the 50's, 60's, and 70's, nonetheless.
