The weather is wonderful and we are in our campervan right next to the preserved GWR railway in Warwickshire. We have just heard that our eldest granddaughter completed her second virtual half marathon in aid of the Sepsis Trust in just under 2 hours so raising nearly £1000 for them.

When she was eight she contracted sepsis and spent two weeks in hospital with her mother sleeping in the bed along side.  It was a very worrying time and many months before she regained the weight lost and she was monitored for some years afterwards. She was incredibly lucky; being poorly and taken to see a doctor who recognised the symptoms and took her and her mother immediately to the hospital herself.

It is perhaps not surprising that we do as much as we can to support our NHS and Tanwen herself is hoping to get enough qualifications to study medicine at university.

That is heartwarming, Tony. Most with sepsis are gone in less than two days. Finding an effective treatment is a holy grail in medicine. I also hope she can follow her heart in the medical field.

Hi Gil,

We are both very well thank you.  Yes, we know how fortunate we were as the doctors made it very plain from the very beginning; if the local doctor hadn't recognised the symptoms and acted so swiftly there might well have been a different outcome.  We are very grateful to her.

Tanwen has grown into a very talented young lady being musically inclined and a very good artist: I use her drawing of her sister's horse's head and a water colour of a Blue Tit which was a Christmas present to us a few years ago at the end of my videos:



As you can see from the above video we had a busy weekend.  After leaving our son and family we camped for two days before returning home.  We are very lucky here in Wales as we are very much up in the vaccination game as they have just started vaccinating the over 30's; we of advancing years had both our jabs some months back and it was very reassuring that our tests for anti bodies last week was positive.
