I asked my son what he wanted for his birthday, and he FINALLY asked for his own steam engine 😂 Went on ebay to see what was available and spotted a newly listed Mamod SW1 with a cheap BIN. As soon as we get a 30˚-ish day I will get a video of him driving it out on the deck…

I gave it to him in “as arrived” condition so he’s been cleaning dust out of all the nooks and crannies with a Kleenex  :D  It has a vaporizing burner and overflow plug, so it was made between ‘72-‘76, not too bad looking for nearly 50 years old! These really are the best model to give to a little boy because they can have nearly as much fun driving them around and loading the box without steaming them.

Happy birthday from me too and it's fun to see your son so happy. When I was a little boy I could only dream of such a beautiful truck.
