Hillbilly music
« on: September 16, 2019, 11:13:46 am »
There`s been a special on PBS of late about country music including Hillbilly music.
I n part one there`s a guy holding a rectangular wood box and he called it a hillbilly river boat whistle.
I`ve searched everywhere and can`t find one, i`d like to make one has anyone ever heard of such a thing.

Nope .... but I do know how to make a Knob Noster Gut Bucket Bass, that is suitable for Hill Folk to make music with.

I found out more about it, it wasn`t really whistle per say but a sounding box for sounds the person made.
There was a guy that would blow one at the Grand ol opry that went by the name Solemn Old Judge.
There`s a picture of him holding one about half way down this page.

We are making one as we speak waiting for the glue to dry now.
